Peterborough Phantoms BMX Club

A few Peterborough Phantoms riders decided to swap their 20” BMXs for MTBs, and fling themselves down the NPS 4X track at Chicksands. All adapted very well, with credible results. NPS 4X: Chicksands

Lauren Smith

Lauren Smith (Urban Air) had to race with associate member Dan Clifford (Urban Air) in the Seniors, so had a mammoth task in front of her. Dan Clifford

Never-the-less she put in some great performances; tackling many of the jumps with confidence.

Clifford meanwhile made it out of the motos and into the quarters with great aplomb, which didn’t go unnoticed. Whispers that he was better at 4X than BMX were heard amongst the crowd!

Once again Clifford produced the goods in both the quarter and semi finals, to make the main. A chuffed Clifford just missed the podium with 4th. Eddie Spain

Youth (15-16 year-olds) saw Eddie Spain and Arran Shrosbree make good progress in the qualifiers. Spain got better with each race and in his four motos he finished with two 3rd and two 2nd.

This put him in a run-off for the last semi-final place. The gate dropped but Spain didn’t have the best line, and he was out of the competition. Arran Shrosbree

Meanwhile Shrosbree had secured four straight wins in his motos, as he adapted quickly to the course. The semi-final saw Shrosbree miss-time the gate but he managed to recover a get second, and through to the final.

Unfortunately the final saw Shrosbree snap his chain, as he powered out the gate, somersaulting him over his handlebars and preventing him from showing his true potential. He finished 4th.
